Commercial Opportunities

Coomera Commercial Opportunities The bulk of Queensland's marine industry is located in the Coomera district centred around the Gold Coast Marine Precinct. Many leading marine businesses are based at this facility including Riviera, Azzura Motor Yachts and Telwater (makers of Quintrex and Bermuda alloy boats).

As well as the boat manufacturers, there are literally hundreds of smaller marine businesses providing all types of services from fit-out of new and refitting of older superyachts to anti-fouling and servicing on runabouts, accessory supplies, chandleries - you name it, it's here in the Global Coomera district.

The marine industry is constantly in expansion mode as there are endless opportunities for new businesses to flourish. In the retail sector the story is similar. Coomera district has six major shopping centres including Sanctuary Cove Marine Village, Upper Coomera and Oxenford plus many smaller ones. There are also numerous industrial retail outlets with many more on the drawing board.

Marine tourism also has a major presence in the area. The eco-tourism resort Couran Cove is serviced from Hope Harbour Marina and there are on-water tour operators and fishing charter.

General tourism is highly profiled centring on the Dreamworld, Movie World and Wet'n'Wild tourist parks. The fact that these major operators are based in the Coomera district opens up endless opportunities for new tourism businesses.

As if this wasn't enough, Coomera will have as its retail showcase the largest town centre development in Australia, the Coomera Town Centre. Covering an area larger than the Gold Coast's biggest shopping centre, Pacific Fair, the Town Centre will feature a university, a $20 million dollar retail precinct with cafes, restaurants, entertainment activities and office and residential accommodation.

Education Opportunities

Surely there can be no better place to raise your children in Australia than the Coomera area. For that matter, Coomera could even be the best place in the world to do so purely due to the standard of education facilities on offer here.

Four high level colleges are situated in the Coomera area. Coomera State College, Coomera Anglican College, St Stephens and a Catholic College. There are two primary schools Oxenford Primary and Coomera Primary and the Helensvale State High School also adjoins the Coomera/Helensvale divisional boundary.

For working parents and those who require quality day care for their younger children, Coomera has a number of highly regarded child care centres. Add to this the planned university and TAFE (Technical And Further Education) College and you have a level of educational service that is unrivalled anywhere in Australia within a relatively small 10km x 15km area. This equates to unequalled opportunities for the future generation of young people.

Tourism Opportunities

Coomera Tourism Opportunities No doubt some of the brightest opportunities in an already bright Coomera future are in tourism. Whether you are a tourist, living here and having friends and relatives in for holidays or you are a business person looking to enter into or expand in the tourism industry, Coomera has more to offer than any other part of the Gold Coast or anywhere else for that matter.

The area is home to three of the Gold Coast's four major theme parks i.e. Dreamworld, Movie World and Wet n Wild Water Park. Then there are the Broadwater based resorts Couran Cove Eco Resort and Tipplers Resort both situated on South Stradbroke Island a quick 25 minute boat ride away.

Health resorts such as the Golden Door situated in the rolling Coomera hills cater for those who want to get fit physically and psychologically. The close proximity of Coomera to the wonderful rainforest covered Mt Tamborine means a short drive will give you access to a plethora of bed and breakfast mountain retreats.

Also situated on and around Mt Tamborine are numerous well-established wineries, many of which have first class restaurants. All of course do wine tastings and many conduct winery tours. If the sea is your thing you can satisfy your nautical urges by chartering a houseboat, powerboat or sailboat. There are also numerous fishing charter operators who can take you out to chase the big ones on the offshore reefs, which are within easy reach or spend the day fishing in the protected waters of the Broadwater and its may rivers, creeks and estuaries.

For a lazy, relaxing cruise hop aboard M.V. Kilkie, which operates from the Sanctuary Cove Marine Marina. The five star Hyatt Regency Resort Hotel is also situated at Sanctuary Cove. The Couran Cove ferry service operates from the Hope Harbour Marina and the major marina in the area, Gold Coast City Marina, is a must see. All these marinas have restaurant and eatery outlets where you can also relax with a glass of wine.

More marinas are also being currently developed pr are in the planning stages with Boardwalk cafes and eateries as a central feature. The Coomera River also has designated water ski area.

Employment Opportunities

The Coomera area is a hub of business. The diversity of businesses operating here means a constant need for employees. The continual expansion of the area in business with developments like the Citywalk Shopping Centre, new home and industrial construction, new marinas and entertainment venues, to mention just a few, means there will be a consistent demand for new employees and that demand will continue to increase. Industries strongly represented in the Coomera area are marine construction, theme parks, tourism, hospitality, equine, environment and retail/leisure. As these expand, so too will their employment needs.

Dreamworld alone employs six hundred permanent and permanent part-time staff and up to one thousand during the Christmas period. The Gold Coast Marine Precinct currently employs over three thousand people with this projected to exceed five thousand by 2008.

If you are looking for a great place to live where you can work just around the corner, there is nowhere else on the Gold Coast that offers so much employment opportunity.

Environmental Opportunities

Protection of the environment has been uppermost in the minds of the strategic planners of the Coomera area. Having the junction of five rivers as its central point means the area is very important both ecologically and environmentally.

Gold Coast City Council has developed a Water Future Master Plan that includes such initiatives for enhancement of community lifestyle and reduction of environmental impact as:

  • Reducing demand for drinking water by up to 84%
  • Reducing the quantity of treated waste water released back into the environment
  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Minimisation of stormwater entering the waste water system

Green areas have also been high priority in the overall local area plan. Many extensive parklands are planned along with rehabilitation of natural areas and development of nature trails. A vegetation management and protection ten-year plan is in place and there are also the Coomera River Parklands, an important unique collection of riverfront parklands offering significant and diverse recreational opportunities for residents.

Bordering on a major wetland site, which is a major stop-off point for annual migration of bird species from around the world, the Coomera area supports a variety of coastal vegetation, including mangrove forest and shrub land, soft marsh and marine flats, coastal edge lands, swamp oak and paperback open forest and eucalypt coastal woodland. The estate and recreational opportunities will be well managed to preserve diverse flora and fauna for the benefit of current and future residents.

Also in place for the area is a State Planning Policy influencing land use, planning and development decisions towards development outcomes that are compatible with the conservation of koalas and minimisation of potential adverse impacts.

A well-organised Rural Bush Fire Brigade service has also been established to protect the environment in case of emergency.

Investment Opportunities

Coomera is the fastest growing area in Australia. This opens up vast opportunities for those who look to small and medium business as their chosen profession. Light industrial areas are well established with more to follow. These serve the needs of a growing population covering everything from banking and accountancy services to engineering, automotive and marine sales and servicing, rural supplies, building materials and real estate!

Residential and commercial real estate investment opportunities are on offer to suit small, medium or large investment levels. There is also potential for more large developments, which will appeal to the corporate investment market.

Lifestyle Opportunities

Coomera Lifestyle Opportunities Coomera has more to offer your lifestyle than just about anywhere else. The climate is superb all year round and the Broadwater, the delta of three major rivers and a number of creeks is a paradise for boaties. The fishing is great, there are hundreds of wilderness islands abounding in bird and wildlife, which would take years to explore.

For those who relish in the culinary delights, there are a multitude of restaurants specialising in just about every type of food. The area also has numerous sporting and recreational clubs and there are youth centres offering many programs to interest kids of all ages.

Speaking of boating, Coomera adjoins the Gold Coast Broadwater, which is a fully protected waterway extending all the way to Moreton Bay and Brisbane. Even the most experienced skipper can be safe with water-based destinations such as Tipplers Tavern and Couran Cove on South Stradbroke Island offering food, fun and entertainment for the whole family. There's no need to travel too far for a day out.

If you need therapy you can find it here in the form of health improvement at the Golden Door Health Retreat, or in the form of retail therapy at any of the fantastic shopping centres.

If your passion is horses the area abounds with horse farming properties and is home to a large equestrian centre. Of course Coomera is a family lifestyle area so there are countless parks in which kids can play and families can socialise.

Residential Opportunities

Much of the Coomera area is designated within an "urban footprint" regional plan. In short this means that the residential areas will be carefully regulated and co-ordinated with "green" areas. A vast range of accommodation is available here covering million dollar mansions, acreage, to double walk-up townhouses - something for everyone and every budget. Whether you wish to buy or rent, Coomera is the place to live.

The development of the greater Coomera/Oxenford area commenced in the mid 1990's and has been driven by consultation between Federal, State and Local Government agencies. These bodies have worked closely with advisory groups including the Coomera Chamber of Commerce, residents, educational authorities, sporting organisations and Gold Coast City Council town planners. The result is a comprehensive vision for the ongoing development of an infrastructure, which answers the needs and aspirations of every resident in the area, both now and into the future.

The road networks, public transport, cycle and pedestrian systems have been carefully integrated to allow safe and easy movement of residents. If you are looking for acreage and are particularly interested in horses, the hinterland area of Coomera is where you want to be. The rolling hills are dotted with horse farming acreages and there is a major equine centre with professional polo fields.

Coomera also caters well for the more ageing members of the community with an initial six retirement villages strategically placed around the area and more in the planning stage.

Infrastructure

One of the most appealing features of the Coomera area is its proximity to everything. Efficient public transport services cover the area with both school and general bus services and a rail link with Robina to the south and Brisbane and the rest of Queensland to the north.

Commuters to Brisbane by road do so via the M1 motorway, which is designated 110km speed zone for most of the way. This allows the Brisbane CBD to be reached in as little as thirty-five minutes. By the way, the beaches and other attractions of Surfers Paradise are only thirty minutes away by car.

Both Brisbane and Gold Coast domestic and International airports are an easy freeway drive away from Coomera of about forty-five minutes. The rail link also runs direct to Brisbane airport.

The fabulous Broadwater is right on the Coomera doorstep and as is the hinterland areas including Mt Tamborine. The internal transport system within the Coomera region is well planned and the Gold Coast City Council has an extensive capital expenditure program for the areas road network.
